COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Parliamentary Affairs Committee has designated June 30 as a special parliamentary sitting day.
According to a statement from the Parliamentary Communications Department, the decision was made during a committee meeting held yesterday under the chairmanship of Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.
Secretary General of Parliament Kushani Rohanadeera noted that, under Section 11 of the Public Finance Management Act No. 44 of 2024, Parliament is required to convene on or before June 30 each year to present the government’s fiscal strategy statement.
Accordingly, Parliament will convene on June 30 at 9:30 a.m. in line with Standing Order 16.
In addition, the committee decided that Parliament will also meet on the 8th, 9th, and 11th of July.
