Police Intercept ICE-Laden Vehicle in Colombo

COLOMBO (News 1st); A major drug bust unfolded late last night on Reclamation Road in Pettah, where police officers from the Coastal Police Division intercepted a vehicle carrying over 4 kilograms of ice or methamphetamine.

According to police reports, the incident occurred when officers on a routine motorcycle patrol signaled a speeding vehicle to stop near Hettiyawatta Junction. 

The driver ignored the warning and attempted to flee, prompting one officer to pursue and successfully intercept the vehicle from behind.

Upon inspection, officers discovered four plastic containers concealed within the vehicle, each containing a total of 4.112 kilograms of ice or methamphetamine. The narcotics were seized immediately.

The driver fled the scene and remains at large.
