NEC Urges Submission of Names of 223 Elected LG Members

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Election Commission says it is yet to receive the names of 223 members elected to local government bodies.

Chairman R.M.A.L. Ratnayake said that political parties and independent groups have once again been urged to promptly submit the remaining nominations.

Meanwhile, the names of 104 elected members received so far were published in the Government Gazette yesterday.

At the local government elections held on the 6th of May, the National People's Power secured a majority in many of the local government institutions.
