Court Freezes Properties of Drug Trafficker’s Wife

Properties Belonging to Wife of Notorious Drug Trafficker ‘Bathala Heen Mahaththaya’ Frozen by Court Order

Several properties belonging to the wife of Jayasinghe Arachchige Hemantha alias 'Bathala Heen Mahathtaya', a notorious drug trafficker, have been frozen following a court order.

Accordingly, the frozen assets include a two-storey building with two rooms located near the Middeniya Police Station valued at Rs. 15 million, another land and building worth Rs. 7.5 million, and an additional land with a building valued at Rs. 7.5 million.

The assets have been frozen under a court order issued in accordance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The suspect, Bathala Heen Mahathtaya, is currently in remand custody.

Police stated that earlier, a pharmacy situated opposite the Embilipitiya Hospital and a hotel near the Chandrikawewa area in Embilipitiya, both valued at approximately Rs. 30 million and registered under the name of the suspect's wife, were also frozen under court orders. 

These properties are believed to have been acquired through illegal means.
