CCD Probes 12 Phones in Halloluwa Shooting

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Colombo Magistrate’s Court today granted permission to the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) to detain and interrogate another suspect for 48 hours in connection with the shooting incident involving former National Lotteries Board Director Thusitha Halloluwa in the Narahenpita area.

The Additional Magistrate also ordered that six other suspects be further remanded until June 19.

During today’s hearing, officers from the Colombo Crimes Division informed the court that further investigations are being conducted into 12 mobile phones seized by the police in connection with the incident.

Investigators also revealed that inquiries are ongoing into the shooter involved in the attack. They stated that the suspect arrested in the Gampaha area had received a parcel from the alleged gunman.

Upon arrest in Gampaha, the suspect was found in possession of a T-56 assault rifle, six bullets, gold items, 10 grams of narcotics, and 90 milligrams of another substance.

CCD officers described the investigation as highly sensitive and informed the court that reports from three financial institutions are required to proceed further.

After reviewing the presented facts, the Magistrate ordered that the six suspects be further remanded until June 19.
