COLOMBO (News 1st) - The President's Media Division says that in light of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s official visit to Germany, acting ministers have been appointed to oversee four key ministries during his absence.
These temporary appointments cover ministries operating under the direct purview of the President, including the Ministry of Digital Economy, the Ministry of Defence, and the Ministry of Finance, Planning & Economic Development.
Additionally, acting appointments have also been made for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, which functions under Minister Vijitha Herath, who is accompanying the President on the visit.
The following acting ministers have been appointed:
Deputy Minister of Economic Development and current Minister of Labour, Prof. Anil Jayantha Fernando, has been appointed as the Acting Minister of Finance, Planning & Economic Development.
Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, Eranga Weeraratne, has been named as the Acting Minister of Digital Economy.
Deputy Minister of Defence, Aruna Jayasekara, has been appointed as the Acting Minister of Defence.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment, Arun Hemachandra, will serve as the Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism.
