COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lankan Cabinet has decided to suspend Commissioner General of Prisons Thushara Upuldeniya from his duties, following mounting controversy over the alleged misuse of presidential pardons.

The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting held today (9).

Upuldeniya was questioned by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for over 15 hours across two days, as part of the probe into whether prison officials colluded to release inmates without proper authorization. One senior prison officer has already been arrested in connection with the case.
