Deshabandu to Appear Before Inquiry Commitee Again

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakoon is scheduled to appear today before the special inquiry committee probing allegations of misuse of power in his capacity as the head of the police.

The committee, chaired by Supreme Court Justice Preethipadman Surasena, will convene this afternoon at 2 PM to continue the investigation into the conduct of the IGP.

This marks Tennakoon’s second appearance before the committee, with his initial testimony delivered on May 19.

Today’s session was expected to provide him the opportunity to respond freely to the accusations made against him, and present his defense.

The inquiry committee was appointed to look into claims that IGP Tennakoon had improperly exercised the powers vested in him by his office.
