Rs. 30 Million Pharmacy Bought with Drug Money

COLOMBO (News 1st); A pharmacy in Embilipitiya has been seized by authorities after it was discovered to have been funded using proceeds from drug trafficking, according to the Illegal Assets Investigation Division.

The investigation revealed that the pharmacy was purchased under the name of the wife of a known drug trafficker, identified as Jayasingharachchige Hemanta. 

The total estimated value of the seized property exceeds Rs. 30 million, police said.

The seizure was carried out under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
