COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka has recorded a major milestone in its tourism revival efforts, welcoming 1,006,097 international tourists between January 1 and May 25, 2025.
The one-million mark was officially surpassed on May 24, making it the fastest time in any year that the country has reached this figure.
This achievement is attributed to a series of proactive measures implemented to attract more visitors, including infrastructure upgrades, streamlined visa processes, and targeted global marketing campaigns.
With the government setting an ambitious target of 3 million tourist arrivals by the end of 2025, this year has been declared the “Year of Tourism Revival.” A wide range of programs are underway to enhance tourism infrastructure and build capacity among industry professionals.
