Lab Tests, Physiotherapy Services Paralyzed Due To Strike

COLOMBO (News 1st); Laboratory testing and physiotherapy services across Sri Lanka have been severely disrupted due to a strike launched by paramedical professionals affiliated with two major trade unions.

The strike, which began at 8 a.m. today, is in protest against the recruitment of students from private and foreign universities into the paramedical service. The unions argue that such recruitment undermines the integrity and standards of the national healthcare system.

Secretary of the Joint Council of Paramedic Professionals (JCPP), Chanaka Dharmawickrama, stated that if their demands are not addressed, this strike will continue indefinitely.
