Six Injured in Bus-Tipper Collision in Kudaoya

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Six people were injured in a road accident in Balaharuwa, Kudaoya, along the Wellawaya–Thanamalwila main road, after a SLTB bus was rear-ended by a tipper truck.

According to police, the bus was traveling from Monaragala to Colombo when the tipper collided with its rear, causing significant damage and injuring several passengers. 

The injured include four women and two men, all of whom were promptly admitted to the Thanamalwila Hospital for treatment.

Two male victims were later transferred to the Hambantota General Hospital for further treatment due to the severity of their injuries.

Authorities have taken the driver of the tipper truck into custody as investigations into the cause of the accident are underway.

This incident is part of a troubling spike in road accidents reported across the island over the past several hours. 

Police confirmed that three people have died and 42 others have been injured in multiple accidents across the island.
