Drug Trafficking Suspects Among Elected Local Officials

COLOMBO (News 1st) - It has been revealed that 34 individuals involved in drug trafficking contested this year's local government elections.

Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala said that the police have been instructed to carry out a comprehensive investigation into these individuals.

The Minister also said that many of them have been elected to local government institutions.
