COLOMBO (News 1st) - President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his Vesak message, said that the Vesak Full Moon Poya Day, which marks the Birth, Enlightenment, and Parinirvana of the Lord Buddha, is a moment to reflect on the Buddha’s timeless path of wisdom, compassion, and selfless service.
He emphasised that the Buddha’s teachings are not just spiritual, but offer a roadmap to building a just and equal society.
The President urged all citizens to unite in building a nation founded on selflessness and justice, fulfilling the vision of “A Thriving Nation – A Beautiful Life.”
He further noted that as the Buddha taught, a nation prospers when its ruler is righteous.
In a world facing growing division and unrest, President Dissanayake called on the people to embrace the Four Brahmavihāras—Loving-kindness, Compassion, Altruistic Joy, and Equanimity—to foster peace and unity.
