Sri Pada Pilgrimage Season Ends Today: Special Procession Tomorrow

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Chief Incumbent of Sri Pada and Chancellor of Uva Wellassa University, Venerable Bengamuwe Sri Dhammadinna Thero says that the 2024/2025 Sri Pada pilgrimage season will conclude today.

The Chief Incumbent added that tomorrow, a special procession carrying the Sacred Relics and other divine ornaments will ceremonially proceed to the Sri Pada Rajamaha Viharaya in Galpoththawela, Pelmadulla.

Meanwhile, foreign pilgrims will still be allowed to visit Sri Pada during the off-season with prior notification and approval from the Nallathanniya Police.

Venerable Bengamuwe Sri Dhammadinna Thero added that local pilgrims, however, must obtain permission from the relevant Divisional Secretary and present that approval to the Nallathanniya Police in order to access the sacred site during off season.
