21 Dead In Garandiella Bus Crash: Investigations Underway

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The death toll from the bus that plunged into a ravine in the Garandi Ella area of Kotmale on the Nuwara Eliya–Gampola main road has risen to 21.

Police said that 59 people were injured in the accident.

Of the injured, 22 individuals in critical condition have been transferred from the Kotmale Hospital to Gampola, Nuwara Eliya, Peradeniya, and Nawalapitiya hospitals.

Police stated that significant efforts were made to rescue the passengers from the ravine.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) said a special team has been dispatched to the area to investigate the incident.

Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Dr. Prasanna Gunasena visited the scene and stated that several teams have been appointed to investigate the accident.
