15 Sri Lankans Set to Be Rescued in Myanmar

COLOMBO (News 1st): 15 Sri Lankan nationals stranded in Meawaddy, Myanmar, are set to be rescued on May 6, 2025. 

The operation is being carried out under the direct instructions of the Sri Lankan Foreign Minister, with the Myanmar mission dispatching an official to Mae Sot, Thailand, today to oversee the mission.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) Thailand has stepped in to provide full logistical support, including air tickets and local transportation for the rescued individuals. 

The arrangements have been meticulously coordinated through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Thailand, in collaboration with the Governor of Tak Province and Thai Immigration authorities.
