Court Dismisses Ranaweera's Petition to Prevent Arrest

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Court of Appeal dismissed a writ petition filed by former State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera, seeking an order to prevent his arrest. 

The decision was delivered by a bench comprising Court of Appeal President Mohamed Laffar Thahir and Justice Priyantha Perera.

Ranaweera is under investigation for allegedly acquiring government land in the Kelaniya Divisional Secretariat Division through improper means. The petition sought to prevent his arrest in connection with this case.

Former Minister Mervyn Silva and several others have already been remanded in custody in relation to the same incident.
