COLOMBO (News 1st); His Eminence Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith has presented seven crucial requests to the President, aiming to ensure justice for the victims of the Easter Sunday attacks.

1. Public Disclosure of Inquiry Report: His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith has called for the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry, led by Justice Janak De Silva, to be presented to Parliament and made accessible to the public. Currently, the report is only available at the Parliament Library.

2. Establishment of Independent Prosecutors Office: Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith has urged the creation of a fully empowered Independent Prosecutors Office to oversee further investigations into the Easter Sunday terror attacks and initiate legal proceedings.

3. Accountability for All Involved: He emphasized the need to identify and bring to justice all individuals and entities behind the Easter Sunday terror attacks, regardless of their status or position.

4. Implementation of Inquiry Recommendations: Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith has requested the enactment of all recommendations from the report presented by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry, appointed on September 21, 2019.

5. Comprehensive Investigation: He has called for a thorough investigation into the connections between Military Intelligence and Zaharan Hashim, as well as the content revealed by the Channel 4 program. This includes investigating the testimony provided by Azath Maulana in the program.

6. Legislative Reforms: Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith has urged the drafting and implementation of laws to eradicate the culture of injustice that facilitated the secret conspiracies leading to the Easter Sunday terror attacks. He also emphasized the need to strengthen efforts to protect human rights, uphold the law, promote reconciliation, and maintain discipline in the country.

7. Servants of the Citizenry: Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith has reminded those in political power that they are servants of the citizens, not rulers.
