COLOMBO (News 1st); In response to the increased travel demand during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year, additional buses have been deployed to facilitate the return of people to Colombo.
Nayomi Jayawardena, Director General of the Sri Lanka Transport Board, stated that a significant number of extra buses have been added to routes from the districts of Hambantota, Matara, Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, and Monaragala.
These additional buses will be in operation until the 21st of this month.
Sri Lanka Railways has announced that special trains will be available from the 18th of April to assist those returning to Colombo. These trains will depart from Kandy, Badulla, Galle, and Kankesanthurai.
Sri Lanka Railways also informed that office trains will not be running today as per the usual schedule. Regular office train services will resume on the 17th of April.
