Maha Oya Drowning: Two Dead, Two Missing

COLOMBO (News 1st): Two people have died while two others remain missing following a drowning incident in the Maha Oya in the Peragahamankada area of Badalgama.

Police said a search operation is currently underway to locate the two young women who remain missing.

The bodies of a young woman and a young man, both aged around 25, have been recovered.

All four individuals are residents of Hatton.

The group had gone to bathe in the Maha Oya this afternoon when one of the young women drowned.

Police said the other three also drowned while attempting to rescue her.

The Badalgama Police, with the assistance of local residents, are continuing the search operation to locate the two missing women.
