COLOMBO (News 1st); Starlink satellite broadband service will be operational in Sri Lanka starting April 2025, said Sri Lankan Minister & Cabinet Spokesperson Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa.
This launch marks a key milestone in enhancing the country's internet connectivity, providing high-speed, low-latency broadband access to remote and underserved areas.
According to the Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission, Sri Lankans will be able to access the Starlink Broadband service starting this April, said the Minister.
He added that the government has taken steps to ensure the quality of the service provided to users, as well as to address national security concerns, adding that these considerations should have been prioritized from the outset of the discussions.
The government has a duty to oversee and ensure the integrity of any service, regardless of the provider. There are no outstanding issues, and the service will be available from April, he said.
