COLOMBO (News 1st); Deputy Minister of Housing, T.B. Sarath, has stated that the government does not intend to gain political advantage from the Batalanda Commission report.

Speaking today in Polonnaruwa, he emphasized that the findings of the commission should be adjudicated in a court of law.

Deputy Minister Sarath highlighted that the issues revealed in the commission's report must be resolved within the judicial system. "We need to see if the individual is guilty or innocent. This is a matter for the law to decide," he said.

He refuted claims that the commission report was tabled for political gain, noting that the government’s primary focus upon taking office was addressing economic issues. "We did not bring the Batalanda Commission Report for political benefits. There is a significant portion of the public seeking justice for the suffering they endured," Sarath added.
