Main Suspect in Anuradhapura Doctor Assault Remanded

COLOMBO (News 1st); The main suspect in the sexual assault of a female doctor at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital has been remanded until March 24. 

The decision was made after the suspect was presented before the Anuradhapura Magistrate Court today (17).

The suspect's sister and her husband, who were arrested on suspicion of aiding him in evading capture, were released on bail by the court. 

The female doctor, a trainee specialist at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital, was sexually assaulted in her dormitory recently.

The incident has sparked outrage among the medical community, leading to a one-day token strike, and calls for enhanced security measures within hospital premises.
