Suspect Arrested for Scamming People by Promising Overseas Travel

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A 45-year-old woman from Colombo 05 has been arrested for scamming people in Narahenpita by falsely claiming she could send them abroad. 

The arrest followed investigations into three complaints filed at the Narahenpita Police Station.

Further investigations revealed that similar complaints had been lodged against the suspect at several other police stations, including the Colombo Fraud Investigation Bureau, Wellawatta, Wadduwa, Meegahawatta, Habaraduwa, and Giriulla. 

The suspect is accused of defrauding people across various parts of the island.

In the first two months of this year alone, she has scammed a total of Rs. 1,340,000.
