Court to Rule on Deshabandu's Petition Next Week

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Court of Appeal has decided to issue its ruling on March 17 regarding the writ petition filed by Deshabandu Tennakoon, seeking an order to prevent his arrest.

The petition was reviewed by the Court of Appeal today.

Earlier this week, Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon filed a writ petition through his legal team, seeking an interim order to suspend the arrest order issued against him by the Matara Magistrate's Court.

Yesterday (11), the Matara Magistrate's Court has issued an open warrant for the arrest of Deshabandu Tennakoon. 

The court had ordered his arrest in connection with the 2023 shooting incident outside a Hotel in Weligama.
