Over 50 Independent Groups Deposit Bonds for Local Government Elections

COLOMBO (News 1st): A total of 57 independent groups have deposited bonds for the upcoming local government elections.

18 political parties have also deposited bonds for the local government elections.

The Election Commission has confirmed that bonds have been deposited for 168 local government institutions.

The collection of deposit bonds for the local government elections began on March 03 and is scheduled to end on March 19.

Submission of nominations for the local government election will begin on March 17.

Meanwhile, the National Election Commission has issued a special circular to prevent the misuse of state property during the local government election period.

The circular has been sent to ministry secretaries, general secretaries of provincial councils, commission secretaries, district secretaries, and heads of all relevant government institutions.
