COLOMBO (News 1st): The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna Women's Wing office was inaugurated at the party headquarters on Nelum Mawatha, Battaramulla. The event was led by National Organizer Namal Rajapaksa and General Secretary Attorney-at-Law Sagara Kariyawasam.

Women from various provinces attended the event, welcoming the leaders with traditional betel leaves and chanting slogans of victory.

Namal Rajapaksa officially opened the new office by cutting the ribbon amidst a procession of supporters.

When asked about the presence of groups involved in past controversies, Namal Rajapaksa emphasized that their party is built on principles and does not resort to violence or misuse of state power.

He highlighted that even President Gotabaya Rajapaksa stepped back when faced with democratic opposition and foreign-funded protests.

Rajapaksa also addressed concerns about the strain of organizing frequent events, noting that it affects not only him but also his family members. He recalled an incident where his grandmother was brought to CID for questioning after ten years, highlighting the challenges faced by political figures.
