COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory, urging the public to be cautious of the heat conditions expected today.
The advisory states that the heat index, which measures how hot it feels to the human body, is expected to reach "caution" levels in five provinces and several areas across the country.
These include the Northern, North Central, North Western, Western, and Southern Provinces, as well as certain locations in the Ratnapura District.
The Department of Meteorology advises the public to stay hydrated and take breaks in shaded areas whenever possible. Special attention should be given to children, the elderly, and those with health conditions.
The advisory also recommends limiting strenuous outdoor activities and wearing light-colored, loose-fitting clothing to stay cool.

Meanwhile, the Department of Meteorology has forecasted rainy weather starting today in the Northern, North Central, Eastern, Uva, and Central Provinces, as well as the Hambantota District. Showers or thunderstorms are expected in the Galle, Matara, Kalutara, and Ratnapura Districts in the afternoon.
Additionally, misty conditions are likely in the morning in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, and North Central Provinces.
