COLOMBO (News 1st) - Another generator of the Norochcholai Lakvijaya Power Plant has been reconnected to the national grid.
The Ceylon Electricity Board says that, as a result, 600 MW from the two generators that are now operational, will be added to the national grid.
Another inactive generator is also expected to be reconnected to the national grid in the future.
The CEB's media spokesperson, Dhammika Wimalaratne says that the board currently has sufficient electricity capacity to meet the local demand.
He adds that measures are being taken to ensure the security of the national grid during periods of reduced demand.
