Police to Extradite Criminals from India

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Speaking at a media briefing on Saturday (15), Police Spokesperson SSP Buddhika Manatunga said several criminals who are currently in hiding in India, will soon be extradited back to Sri Lanka.

Police Spokesperson SSP Buddhika Manatunga said that so far this year, seven shootings linked to organized crime gangs have been reported, out of a total of 13 shootings.

He added that these 7 incidents resulted in 9 deaths and 2 injuries.

30 people connected to these crimes have been arrested. 

Authorities have seized three T-56 rifles, five pistols, and four motorcycles used in the crimes.

“Efforts are underway to resolve the remaining cases, and a program is in place to extradite those who have fled abroad. Those in hiding in India are expected to be extradited to Sri Lanka soon,” the Police Spokesperson said.
