President AKD Discusses Trade and Investment with Kuwaiti Prime Minister

COLOMBO (News 1st) - President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah during his visit to the United Arab Emirates for the 2025 World Government Summit.

The meeting highlighted Sri Lanka's current political and financial stability, which has increased the potential for investment and tourism. Both leaders discussed strengthening trade relations and diversifying markets between the two countries.

President Dissanayake thanked Kuwaiti Prime Minister for Kuwait's support in helping Sri Lanka secure a loan facility from the International Monetary Fund. 

The discussion also covered the significant contribution of Sri Lankan workers in Kuwait, with approximately 155,000 workers sending remittances totaling US $700 million annually, the President highlighted that this is a significant strength for the Sri Lankan economy. 

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is currently in the United Arab Emirates attending the 2025 World Government Summit.

He is scheduled to address the summit this evening.
