COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Provincial Councils and Local Government has announced that a bridge project, funded by the Netherlands, has been halted midway due to inadequate planning.
Deputy Minister Ruwan Senarath stated that the project, which began in 2021, was initially scheduled for completion by 2024.
The project aimed to install 162 prefabricated bridges, with the Netherlands government providing a financial aid of Rs 14,112 million, with 35% of the total cost being a grant.
However, only 101 bridges have been completed so far, falling short of the original target.
