COLOMBO (News 1st): The Acting Inspector General of Police, Attorney-at-Law Priyantha Weerasooriya, has announced the decision to establish provincial crime divisions to combat organized crime. Currently, such divisions have been set up in the Southern and Western Provinces.
Weerasooriya stated that cabinet approval has been sought to establish similar divisions in the remaining seven provinces. These divisions will also play an active role in curbing drug trafficking.
The Acting Inspector General emphasized that these crime divisions will closely study organized criminal activities and take swift action to suppress them.
