COLOMBO (News 1st) - President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who embarked on a state visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, arrived at Beijing International Airport at approximately 10:25 AM today.
He was received with full military honors by Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong.
During this state visit, President Dissanayake is scheduled to participate in several sectoral tours focusing on technological and agricultural development, as well as poverty alleviation.
He will also attend high-level business meetings.
Additionally, several bilateral agreements are expected to be signed during this visit.
This marks President Dissanayake's second foreign visit since assuming office.
The visit, which commenced today, will conclude on the 17th.
Accompanying the President on this visit are Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath, Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation Bimal Rathnayake, Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong, and Sri Lankan Ambassador to China Majintha Jayasinghe.
