Import Tax on Vehicles to Increase from February

COLOMBO (News 1st) - An extraordinary gazette notification has been issued announcing significant changes to the import tax on vehicles starting in February. 

The gazette, signed by the Minister of Finance and President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, specifies that vehicles less than 10 years old from the date of manufacture will be subject to a tax of 200% and 300%.

Certain vehicle categories will incur taxes based on their engine cylinder capacity and motor power.
