Commander of the Navy promoted to the rank of Admiral

COLOMBO (News 1st) - President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, in his capacity as the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, promoted Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera to the rank of Admiral effective from today (30th December 2024).

He was appointed as the 25th Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy on 18th December 2022, promoting to the 3-star rank of Vice Admiral. 

Upon being promoted to the 4-star rank, Admiral Priyantha Perera arrived at the Navy Headquarters, where he was received, according a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval traditions.

Admiral Priyantha Perera will bid adieu to his distinguished naval career spanning over 37 years, tomorrow (31st December).
