COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) is scheduled to launch a fresh island-wide strike starting at 8:00 AM today (09).
The strike was called in response to the Ministry of Health allegedly violating agreed-upon conditions regarding post-internship medical appointments.
The GMOA claims the Ministry proceeded with appointments while bypassing the terms previously settled with the association.
Previously, The GMOA temporarily suspended a multi-day strike at 8:00 AM on April 06.
Strike resumes after negotiations stalled.
A discussion between the GMOA and the Minister of Health and Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, was originally slated to take place today.
