Rice Import Permits Extended Until January 10

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The government has decided to extend the rice import permits until January 10, 2025, following discussions at the Ministry of Trade, Commerce and Food Security.

The permit was originally set to expire today.

Meanwhile, Customs officials have confirmed that 35,600 metric tonnes of rice, ordered by private importers, have already been received and distributed across the country.
