Heavy Rainfall Expected in Northern and Eastern Provinces as Low-Pressure Area Moves Towards Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Department of Meteorology says that an increase in rainfall is expected in the Northern and Eastern provinces starting tomorrow.

This is due to the low-pressure area currently existing over the Bay of Bengal, which is moving west-northwestward and is expected to reach the southern Bay of Bengal near the Sri Lanka-Tamil Nadu coastline by December 11.

The Department of Meteorology further adds that, along with this, the monsoon conditions in the southeastern part of the island are expected to gradually establish across the country.
