Couple Arrested for Foreign Job Scam and Possession of Drugs

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A couple was arrested in Siyambalagoda, Polgasovita for defrauding people by promising foreign jobs. 

The arrest was carried out based on a tipoff received by the Kahathuduwa police. 

Authorities recovered 66 foreign passports in their possession, allegedly taken from individuals in Rajagiriya promising overseas employment.

Investigations revealed that the suspects called job seekers for interviews and charged fees ranging from Rs. 200,000 to Rs. 300,000.

Police also discovered 20 milligrams of ICE during the operation.
