334 Arrested for Election Law Violations

COLOMBO (News 1st): A total of 334 including 9 candidates, have been arrested for the violation of Election laws.

In addition to the candidates, 325 supporters were also taken into custody for their involvement in election law violations.

So far, the police have received 313 complaints regarding violations of election laws, of which 51 are classified as criminal offenses. 

Election Commission has received 1,794 complaints related to the General election.

The 2024 General Election is scheduled for the 14th of November.
