22A Clears Final Vote | 158 MPs Vote in Favor

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Third Reading of the 22nd Constitutional Amendment Bill, with amendments, was passed in Parliament today following a decisive vote.

The Bill secured 158 votes in favour, while 63 Members voted against it. There were no abstentions.

The vote comes after two days of intense parliamentary debate, during which Government and Opposition lawmakers engaged in a heated exchange over judicial independence, constitutional reform and the proposed extension of the retirement age of judges.
