COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lanka Army has strongly condemned recent videos released by several irresponsible social media content creators, which contain false information aimed at tarnishing the Army's reputation, undermining public trust, and inciting animosity towards the Army.

These videos, produced without proper verification of misleading information provided by a few individuals within the Army who have no prospects for career progression, were shared solely to gain publicity through their social media accounts.

Sri Lanka Army said that the videos inaccurately claim that the relocation of troops from certain camps was a hasty decision.

However, the Army clarified that these relocations are part of a long-term strategic plan under its resizing and restructuring measures. All Army activities are conducted under the supervision of the Commander of the Army, the Minister of Defence, and the Ministry of Defence, adhering to their directives and guidance.

The Army emphasized that such baseless actions by a few irresponsible individuals, acting against media ethics, are an unsuccessful attempt to damage the long-standing cordial relationship between the Army and the public.

Furthermore, these misleading narratives could potentially pose a future threat to national security if allowed to spread unchecked.

The Army urges the public not to be misled by such misinformation and to maintain their unwavering trust in the Army. The Army remains steadfast in its commitment to national security and loyalty to the government and the country.
