COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ministry of Power & Energy has announced the commencement of a study to revise the current electricity tariff formula.
Secretary to the Ministry, Professor Udayanga Hemapala, stated that the revision aims to introduce a more consumer-friendly electricity tariff system.
The new methodology will be presented to the President, who is also the Minister in charge of the subject, before being submitted to the Cabinet.
Professor Hemapala further mentioned that the revised formula will subsequently be presented to the Public Utilities Commission, which will be appointed by the new Parliament.
