Yukthiya Operation Nets Over 1,000 Suspects as Investigations Continue

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan law enforcement authorities have apprehended 1038 individuals during the ongoing Yukthiya Operation, a large-scale initiative targeting individuals suspected of criminal activities during the past 24 hours, ending early morning.

Sri Lanka Police confirmed that further investigations will be conducted for 67 individuals based on detention orders.

In a decisive strike against drug trafficking, Sri Lankan authorities successfully apprehended 84 suspects linked to the Police Narcotics Bureau and Special Bureau's registry. 

This operation also saw the apprehension of 43 individuals struggling with drug addiction, who were subsequently sent to rehabilitation centers for treatment and recovery.

Police officials highlighted the seizure of a substantial amount of illegal drugs during the operation, including 417 grams of heroin and 205 grams of ice. 

Mawanella Police apprehended two individuals suspected of involvement in ice drug trafficking and seized over 28 grams of the illegal substance, ICE. 

The operation unfolded in the Walawwatta area, No. 27 Usavi Road, where police discovered the drugs concealed within a jeep.
