COLOMBO (News 1st): Two people, including a police officer, have been arrested for allegedly soliciting a bribe in the form of a liqour bottle worth Rs. 3,640.
The incident is under investigation by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
Reports indicate that the officer requested the liquor bottle as a bribe to finalize paperwork related to vouchers for funds intended to help arrest drunk drivers.
They were arrested at the Kolonnawa police station, where the officer worked, alongside a worker from a cleaning service.
Both suspects are set to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court.
