COLOMBO (News 1st) - Independent presidential candidate Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka presented a critical analysis of Sri Lanka's economic and governance issues.

He accused the current rulers of mismanaging international loans meant for national development. Sarath Fonseka claimed that these funds were diverted through commissions and bribes, resulting in no real benefit for the country or its people. Consequently, Sri Lanka is now grappling with severe debt and financial instability.

Fonseka outlined three key priorities for his proposed administration to address the nation’s challenges. The first priority is tackling corruption, fraud, and the misuse of assets by politicians and state employees. He argued that without addressing these issues, true development and progress remain unattainable.

The second priority is to restore national security, which he believes has significantly declined. He vowed to implement measures to enhance stability and safety across the country.

Lastly, he stressed the importance of reinstating discipline within the country. He emphasized that a return to order and accountability is crucial for improving Sri Lanka's overall functioning and governance.
