Pillar of the Community Jayantha de Silva Passes Away

COLOMBO (News 1st) – Former Western Provincial Councilor Jayantha de Silva has passed away at the age of 78. He died this morning while undergoing treatment at the National Hospital.

Jayantha de Silva, a dedicated public servant, entered active politics through the United National Party. 

Over more than three decades, he made significant contributions as a municipal councilor in the Colombo Municipal Council and as a member of the Western Provincial Council.

One of his notable achievements was the establishment of the Prajna Pradeepa scholarship program, which provided essential support to many underprivileged children, helping them pursue their education.

At the time of his passing, Jayantha de Silva was serving as the co-organizer of the Samagi Jana Balawega's Borella Electorate. He was also an alumnus of Ananda Vidyalaya, Colombo.
