COLOMBO (News 1st) – Three organized crime suspects who had fled Sri Lanka and were hiding in Dubai were extradited to the country today.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) confirmed the identities of the suspects and their involvement in serious criminal activities.
One of the suspects, Ranmuni Mahesh Hemanta Silva, is wanted in connection with the murder of five individuals near the expressway entrance in Kahawatta, Beliatta, on January 22, 2024.
He was apprehended and brought back to Sri Lanka to face charges.
Another suspect, identified as Pradeep Sadaruwan, also known as Chandana, was involved in an attempted murder case.
He allegedly shot and injured Gihan Madhusankha, also known as Raja, in the Wellampitiya police division on June 18, 2023.
An open warrant had been issued against him by the Aluthkade No. 02 Magistrate's Court.
The third suspect, Upali Nadakanda, also known as Rotumba Upali, was wanted for the brutal murder of Sunil Wijesinghe in the Akurassa police division on November 1, 2008. The Matara High Court had issued an open warrant for his arrest.
